It’s final, Harmanpreet Kaur will be India’s no. 3 in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup

ICC Women's T20 World Cup: Harmanpreet Kaur has played 173 T20Is for India, scoring 3426 runs at an average of 28.08.

Warm-up matches of any tournament are reflection of a team’s strategy. When the Indian team had left for the UAE, for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, coach Amol Muzumdar had left a question unanswered — as to who will be the No. 3 for the World Cup. Now, with India’s first practice match done, it is more of less clear, who will hold the key position.

Harmanpreet Kaur Best Suited for No. 3

It is going to be none other than skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who will anchor the team and be the most important player in the batting line up. In the fixture vs West Indies in Dubai on Sunday, it was Harmanpreet who came into bat after the fall of Shafali Verma, with the score reading 18/1.

Although the veteran failed to come up with a promising innings, and was dismissed for 1, she still remains the best bet for India at No.3. In fact, former India skipper Anjum Chopra, had advocated for Harman’s promotion. She had in fact gone on to say that the latter was wasted at No. 4 in T20Is.
