Ishan Kishan vs KS Bharat debate once again for IND vs WI 1st Test, call after practice game
India are due to play a practice match on July 5 and 6 ahead of two-match Test series against West Indies

Ishan Kishan vs KS Bharat: IND vs WI – Another Test series this time against West Indies, and yet another time Ishan Kishan vs KS Bharat debate is the hot topic. The debate started during World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia and is still continuing, with Bharat failing to stamp his authority as the wicketkeeper batter. A decision on who will keep among Bharat and Kishan will be taken after a practice game.

While Bharat did a more than decent job behind the wickets during WTC Final, big runs have deserted him. Bharat could muster only 5 and 23 runs in both innings against Australia, and in the preceding four Test matches against Australia, he could manage just 101 runs in six innings. Bharat has failed to add valuable runs lower down the order, which has hurt India badly against Australia.

Speaking about Kishan, the southpaw is more of a Rishabh Pant mold batter who likes to take on the opposition. While Kishan has played ODIs and T20Is, he is yet to make his Test debut in the longest format. The MI wicketkeeper batter though boasts of a good First-class record as he has played 48 matches, scoring 2985 runs at an average of 39. During WTC final practice session, Bharat tipped Kishan owing to his superior wicketkeeping skills.

However, with India failing to score runs lower down the order on a consistent basis, Kishan might be looked upon as an option. Prior to the West Indies tour, Kishan trained hard at NCA and worked on a few things. He also opted out of the Duleep Trophy, which indicated Kishan is in the scheme of things for a Test debut.

India are due to play a two-day practice match on July 5 and 6, and whoever among Bharat and Kishan fares well will go to don wicketkeeping gloves for the first Test against West Indies starting on July 12.
