Ishan Kishan returns to Wankhede Stadium, hammers 23-ball 77* after signing for SRH at Rs 11.25 cr

Ishan Kishan smoked 77* off only 23 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fans, we have a great piece of news coming to your way. New signing Ishan Kishan has just clubbed a mind-blowing, unbeaten 77-run knock off just 23 balls for Jharkhand in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). SRH roped in the star southpaw for Rs 11.25 crore at the recent IPL 2025 mega auction. It was a bit confusing as to why did SRH go so hard for Kishan. After all, they already spent a combined Rs 51 crore on Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen. But now, Kishan has shown how lethal he could be when on song.

Coming on the back of three consecutive wins, Jharkhand faced Arunachal Pradesh at the Wankhede Stadium, ground where Kishan has enjoyed tremendous success with the Mumbai Indians (MI). Jharkhand bowlers set up the win, rattling AP for just 93, with Anukul Roy bagging a four-fer. With just 94 runs on the board, Jharkhand openers Ishan Kishan and Utkarsh Singh came out with an attacking intent.

Kishan clubbed a fiery 77 in just 23 balls. His strike rate of 334.78 is just magnificent to read if you are an SRH supporter. Jharkhand hammered at an immaculate run rate of 20.8—the highest ever by a team batting for more than one over in men’s T20s. Kishan, in particular, hammered five boundaries and as many as nine sixes, utilising the batting-firendly nature of the Wankhede Stadium.
