Arshdeep Singh unleashed his fury as he rattled the Proteas to bag his maiden ODI fifer. Batting first in the IND vs SA 1st ODI, the hosts crumbled like a pack of cards, courtesy of some fiery bowling by Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan, Former India star, Irfan Pathan was impressed with Arshdeep’s bowling and heaped praises for the youngster.
It has been a day of dreams for Arshdeep Singh. He not only scalped his maiden ODI wicket but also bagged a fifer. His victims include the likes of Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Tony de Zorzi, Heinrich Klaasen and Andile Phehlukwayo. But his biggest compliment came when Arshdeep got praises from Irfan Pathan.
Arshdeep considers Irfan as his idol as he has referred in the past. “I idolise Irfan Pathan in the childhood days” Arshdeep said previously. Arshdeep Singh became the first Indian pacer to take a 5-fer against South Africa in ODIs.

“I was under a bit of pressure because I never took any wicket in ODIs before. Happy to get a fifth. The wicket had purchase early on and the plan was to get some LBWs and bowleds. (Having the new ball) Our team’s main motto is adaptibility, ” said Arshdeep Singh after obtaining his maiden ODI fifer.
Whether I open or bowl first-change, I’m happy representing my country. (10 overs in first 25 overs) It was quite hot as well. I was playing a 50-over game after a year. But it all paid off, and after my five-for, I feel very fresh. (Shows the ball to the camera) We thought surface would be abrasive too but there was a bit of moisture on the surface,” Arshdeep concluded.
