The Indian Premier League (IPL) remains the talk of the town in cricket. Whatever happens, whether it’s a Test series between India and Australia or a franchise league in South Africa (SA20), the IPL somehow finds center stage. But the last place you’d expect that to happen would be the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 Draft.
Zaheer Abbas praises IPL instead of PSL
Well, it happened. Moments before the player selection started, former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas was called to speak a few words. While he commented on what good the PSL was doing and how domestic cricket was improving, he mistakenly called PSL, the IPL.
“Without players, you can’t complete any tournament. Now, we are asking foreign players to come and join Pakistani players. That’s the best way to improve your game. I wish IPL (PSL) to do very well, as they are always doing very well for Pakistan,” said Zaheer Abbas live.
India vs Pakistan online over ‘PSL/IPL’ fumble
Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to either mock Abbas, take a dig at PSL, or praise the IPL. One fan claimed that Zaheer, like other former cricketers, has an “obsession of our ex-cricketers with India & its league (IPL).” Another just said he “knows the truth.”
