Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that Josh Inglis’ stunning century knock in IND vs AUS 1st T20I has potentially secured him an IPL contract. The Australian wicketkeeper-batter smashed his maiden international century off 47 balls and ended up scoring 110 runs off 50 deliveries.

Reacting to Inglis’ breathtaking knock, Aakash Chopra said that the Australian batter’s blistering knock may have ensured him an IPL contract.

“Inglis ki is inning ko dekh kar kya pata ipl ka contract bhi load ho rha ho” [By watching this inning of Inglis, who knows, an IPL contract might be loading as well], Aakash Chopra said during innings break on JioCinema.

Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer, Simon Katich also lauded Inglis for his knock and said the Aussie batter made good use of the crease which made it difficult for the Indian bowlers.

“He was excellent right from the word go tonight. He scored all around the wicket. Against pace and spin, his timing was spot on, he opened the blade beautifully to access the off-side. Then he had the power game through the leg side as well as we see it in the highlights,” Katich said on JioCinema.

IPL 2024 Auction on December 19

Apart from Josh Inglis, his teammate Travis Head is likely to be a big attraction in the IPL 2024 Auction. Head was the star for Australia in the World Cup final as his century powered the Men in Yellow to their 6th ODI World Cup title. He had gone unsold at the IPL 2023 auction.

Notably, the IPL teams have until November 26 to submit their lists of retained and released players. The IPL 2024 Auction is set to take place in Dubai on December 19. With the T20 World Cup scheduled to be played next year, many overseas players are expected to enter the auction.
