With a rather darth of medium pacers in the domestic circuit, the clubs jumped at the sight of Mukesh Kumar. Determined to bolster their bowling department, DC failed to succumb to PBKS’s pressure and achieved its target. Having had his club career in Kolkata, Mukhesh Kumar joined the Bengal team in 2015.
Kumar had his Ranji Trophy debut the same year along with his List A debut. The following year, i.e 2016 he made his domestic T20 debut. To date, Mukhesh has played 30 First class matches, 18 List A games, and 17 T20 matches. He boasts of having 109 wickets in 30 First class matches.

Reacting to the opportunity of playing for the Delhi franchise, Mukesh expressed, “One of my friends called me and said congratulations. I asked him for what. And then he told me to tune in to the IPL Mini-Auction and watch the bidding. I couldn’t believe what was happening when I switched on the TV. I would like to thank the Delhi franchise. I was with the team last season as well as a net bowler. The environment within the group is really good.”
Mukhesh, who has been a net bowler for Delhi Capitals previously, now has his dream come true after DC spent 5.5 cr to buy him. His ongoing consistent stint in the domestic format earned him a place in the senior Indian team for the three-match ODI series against South Africa.
After failing to make his debut for the National team, Kumar is knee to prove his worth in the IPL. He claimed he wanted to play in the IPL to fulfill his father’s dream. “I had been called for trials by a few teams, but at that moment I was in Bangladesh for the India A series. It will be a huge thing for me to be selected in an IPL team because that was the dream of my father. He wanted to see me play in the IPL. So I hope that some or the other team picks me, and I get an opportunity to play,” he told Sportskeeda.
