IPL 2025 rising stars of week (Apr 7-13): Priyansh Arya obvious pick, couple of underrated players make cut

IPL 2025: Week 3 of the tournament witnessed some exceptional performances from the young guns, managing to steer their teams to victories.

It has to be admitted, that somehow this IPL 2025 has been about the youngsters, where they have driven their teams forward in the competition. Yes, the experienced Indian stars, of course form the core of the teams, but then it is the younger ones who have come up with more significant shows. Last week too, some of the lesser known stars chipped in with performances — like Vipraj Nigam, and Digvesh Rathi, and Piyansh Arya showed that the belong to the big stage.

So, InsideSport takes a look at the Rising stars of the week.

Priyansh Arya Rises as Main Batter for PBKS

Before the start of the IPL 2025, not many would have known Delhi dasher Priyansh Arya. But just a week of good performances, and many already feel that he belongs in the Indian team. In the PBKS vs CSK match, he came up with a 42-ball ton that took the team past 200. That was enough to beat MS Dhoni’s Chennai.

His exploits did not stop there, as he then struck 36 from 13 vs SRH, but that was in a losing cause. Thereafter, he went on to score 22 from 12, that somehow helped his team get past 110 in the KKR match. In 6 matches now, he has 216 runs at an average of 36.

Prabhsimran Singh’s Stocks on the Rise

After a 69 vs LSG in his second match, opener Prabhsimran has slumped to bad patch. Runs were hard to come by, that added to Punjab’s woes. But in the last two matches, he found his form going. Against SRH he scored a quickfire 42, and then in the KKR match, he top-scored with 30 from 15 only. Overall in six matches, he has only 163 runs, but then a vast improvement for him from the last match.

Vipraj Nigam Slips Under the Radar, But Impresses

Underrated all the way. Vipraj Nigam with his very useful leg-spinners hasn’t been talked about much. But he has been mighty effective for DC this year. In five matches he has bagged seven wickets, and at an economy of only 8.87. Vs RCB he came up with figures of 2/18, and then followed it up with 2/41. He bats well too, if needed, lower down the order.

Special Mention, Digvesh Rathi

This week the leg-spinner has played three matches, and in them, he wasn’t as good, as he was in previous matches.. still decent as he picked up three wickets, where his economy rate never exceeded 8.25. He too has mellowed down a bit, as far as his notebook celebration was concerned, after getting a couple of hefty fines.
