IPL 2025 Retention: Official! Rs 120 Crore set as auction purse

Player Unavailability: Ban for 2 IPL seasons if unavailable after auction.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council are done with their meeting in Bengaluru. They have finalised important decisions regarding the upcoming 2025 IPL season and the auction. The meeting, which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel focused on retention rules, the auction venue, and other key aspects for the next season.

IPL 2025-2027 Player Regulations

  • Retention: Franchises can retain up to 6 players (max 5 capped, and max 2 uncapped). One uncapped is a must.
  • Auction Purse: INR 120 crore for IPL 2025.
  • Salary Cap: Increased to INR 146 crore (2025), INR 151 crore (2026), INR 157 crore (2027).
  • Match Fees: INR 7.5 lakhs per match for all playing members (including Impact Player).
  • Overseas Player Registration: Mandatory for participation.
  • Player Unavailability: Ban for 2 seasons if unavailable after auction.
  • Capped Indian Player Status: Becomes uncapped if not in XI in international cricket for 5 years or without BCCI central contract.
  • Impact Player Rule: Continues for 2025-2027.
