Mumbai Indians (MI) have won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Returning back after his 1-match ban, MI captain Hardik Pandya has made a few changes against his old team, the Gujarat Titans (GT). Having lost their first Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match, MI would look to turn things around.
Hardik Pandya decides to bowl first
Having spent two years as GT captain, Hardik knows the pitch all too well and decided to bowl first.
“We’ll bowl first. The simple reason is we don’t know how the pitch will play, plus the dew factor. Only last year we played on black soil; otherwise, we have been playing on red soil. Last year, we had the game under wraps but couldn’t finish it,” Hardik said after winning the toss.
MI make 2 changes
Asked about the changes MI are making, the captain said they are keeping all the options. Of course, he was coming back in, so that’s one change. But Will Jacks and Vignesh Puthur won’t feature from the last game.
“The prep has been fantastic; the boys are excited, and we back each other and are there for each other. We are keeping the options open (about the playing XI). Always about playing good cricket, planning right, and enjoying the game,” Hardik added.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman has come in for Jack, while Hardik comes in for Puther. Weirdly enough, the left-arm wrist spinner who earned praise from MS Dhoni isn’t even in the impact sub list.
