Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been put in to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium against the Mumbai Indians (MI). Playing their second away match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane revealed that they are making one change, with Sunil Narine coming in for Moeen Ali.
Ajinkya Rahane unsure about Wankhede Stadium pitch
Asked about whether he’s happy to bat first, Rahane stated that KKR wanted to bowl first. The Mumbaiker isn’t sure about how the pitch at Wankhede Stadium will play. But he reckons that dew won’t come, and so the bowlers have a good chance to defend whatever they put on the board.
“We wanted to bowl first as well, but I was confused looking at the wicket. Generally, Wankhede is a good batting surface, so I feel it’s a good toss to lose. There’s a little breeze going on, no dew factor going on. We are playing good cricket; every game gives us a good opportunity to play good cricket. Lovely ground; we are looking to play cricket,” Rahane said at the toss.
KKR make just one change
In the last match against the Rajasthan Royals, Narine couldn’t play due to illness. Rahane confirmed that the all-rounder returns against MI with Moeen going out. “Sunil comes in in place of Mooen,” the KKR captain added.
