IPL 2025: How have Mumbai Indians players fared in ICC Champions Trophy so far?

Catch how have the Mumbai Indians (MI) players fared at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 during the league stage before IPL 2025.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been a delightful one for Team India so far. After beating Bangladesh and arch-nemesis Pakistan, the Men in Blue qualified for the semi-final with a game in hand. But with the new edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the horizon as well, let us discuss how the players from the most successful franchise—the Mumbai Indians (MI)—are doing at the competition. MI captain Hardik Pandya is playing under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy for India and both are cornerstones for the country. But how are other MI players doing at the mega ICC event?

Rohit Sharma (India)

The Indian captain, who was retained at ₹16.30 crore, is leading Team India. While many tout this as Rohit’s last ICC tournament, his leadership has been on point nonetheless. With India going spotless in the group stage, Rohit’s men are firm favorites to win the Champions Trophy. With the bat, however, the Indian skipper is yet to fire.

Rohit, who is perhaps the best white-ball opener of this generation, is having an indifferent tournament with 76 runs at an average of 25.33. However, Rohit’s style of play has been selfless as usual. He has played 68 balls and has operated at a strike rate of above 111. India would hope that their talisman stays for more overs in the knockouts.

Hardik Pandya (India)

Here comes India’s MVP, Hardik Pandya. With him being the only pace bowling all-rounder in the Indian team, his importance is paramount. The MI skipper is having a great Champions Trophy as well, with him doing superbly with the ball. While his batting exploits are known by many, Pandya has developed himself as a 10-over bowler, which is a huge plus for India.

In three innings, he has struck as many times. However, his economy rate of 4.56 has been quite superb. With the bat, he has 53 runs, including a match-winning 45-ball 45 against New Zealand.

Ryan Rickelton (South Africa)

Here comes Mumbai Indians’ replacement for Ishan Kishan. South Africa’s Ryan Rickelton has been quite superb for the Proteas and is one of the main reasons why they have been as successful as they have been at recent times.

In his maiden Champions Trophy match, Rickelton hammered a vital century. He hammered 103 against Afghanistan, winning the Player of the Match for his efforts. At the top, Rickelton’s form is a massive plus going in the IPL 2025 for MI.

Mitchell Santner (New Zealand)

Time for another new acquisition for Mumbai – Mitchell Santner, who will solve MI’s awful spin department. Being the New Zealand captain, Santner has done well to see his team go through the league stage and will face South Africa in the semis.

As a spinner, Santner is perhaps one of the best tweakers in white-ball cricket. Even in red-ball, he showcased his prowess when he single-handedly wreaked havoc against India.

At the Champions Trophy, Santner has claimed four wickets, including a great spell of 3/66 against Pakistan.
