BCCI fines Rishabh Pant Rs 24 lakh for breaching Code of Conduct against Mumbai Indians

Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh the last time LSG faced MI. His offence was the same as last time.

Khaya piya huch nahi, glass toda, barah aana! That’s what Rishabh Pant did against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 27. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain didn’t take one catch and scored just 4 runs in 2 balls as his team lost by 54 runs to Hardik Pandya and co.

And as if this wasn’t enough, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fined him Rs 24 lakh. For the second time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Pant has been found guilty of slow over-rate. It was against MI on April 4, when BCCI fined him Rs 12 lakh. And three weeks later, he’s been penalised again for the same offence.

“As this was his team’s second offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs,” the BCCI stated in an official release.

It’s not been the best season for Pant with the bat. And these fines aren’t helping his case either. The only good thing is that the BCCI has revoked their old rule. Until last season, captains received bans for continuing to violate the over-rate laws. That is no longer the case.
