IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals concerns & doubtful players ahead of new edition

In IPL 2024, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their opening match to be played on March 24.

Former Indian Premier League (IPL) champs, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will look to repeat their antics of 2008 as they look to win coveted trophy in the upcoming season. Sanju Samson and Co. are set to play Lucknow Super Giants in their opening match of IPL 2024 on March 24. Ahead of their opening match, let us take a look at Rajasthan Royals injury concerns and other issues.

Rajasthan Royals injury concerns

Prasidh Krishna: After missing out the previous edition due to an injury, Prasidh Krishna might also be doubtful for the opening match. Krishna suffered a quadriceps injury while playing for Karnataka in their recently concluded Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Prasidh Krishna sustained his injury on January 13. As per reports, it could take him 4-6 weeks to recover from his injury.

Apart from Prasidh Krishna, RR have no injury concerns as of now

Other concerns

Lack of quality pacer

Apart from Trent Boult, RR have several pacers in their line-up. The likes of Navdeep Saini, Sandeep Sharma, Avesh Khan and Kuldeep Sen are genuine wicket-takers but also tend to leak runs. All the pacers mentioned above including Trent Boult have an economy of above 8 atleast in IPL. On the other hand, Nandre Burger might be making his debut in the upcoming edition and might also share the new ball with Boult.

Venue issues?

Earlier this month, Rajasthan Sports Council (RSC) had sealed the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur after the state cricket body did not fulfil its liabilities, including payment of dues. However, RSC secretary Sohan Ram Choudhary has given the assurance that the venue will host the IPL matches. In 2024 IPL, Rajasthan Royals will face LSG in their opening match to be played on March 24.
