Former New Zealand cricketer and Mumbai Indians star James Franklin is all set to replace Dale Steyn as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) bowling coach for the IPL 2024 season. According to ESPNcricinfo, Steyn, who joined the franchise in 2022, has pulled out due to personal reasons.
Franklin has prior experience at the IPL. The all-rounder used to represent the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2011 and 2012 seasons but has no prior experience coaching in the league. However, he has experience in county cricket (Middlesex and Durham) and franchise cricket (Islamabad United and Birmingham Phoenix).
Another thing that bodes well for James Franklin is his friendship with SRH head coach Daniel Vettori. Not only are the two former New Zealand teammates, but they have also worked together as coaches at Middlesex and Birmingham Phoenix.
