Gujarat Titans’s newest captain Shubman Gill was spotted playing cricket alongside English singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran in Mumbai ahead of the IPL 2024. Gill has replaced Hardik Pandya as the captain after, the latter made a sensational move to Mumbai Indians.
Shubman Gill to lead Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024
Gujarat Titans are set to commence their first match under Shubman Gill’s captaincy against Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat on March 24. The team clinched their inaugural IPL title in 2022, led by Hardik Pandya.
Gill, purchased for 7 crores in 2022, has been a standout acquisition for the franchise. He played a pivotal role in their maiden triumph, scoring 483 runs in 16 matches, including an unbeaten 45 in the final against Rajasthan Royals.
In IPL 2023, Gill continued his stellar form, amassing 890 runs in 17 innings, which featured three centuries. However, despite his outstanding performances, Gujarat Titans finished as runners-up to Chennai Super Kings in the final.
As they gear up for IPL 2024, Gujarat Titans face challenges due to injuries. The absence of pace spearhead Mohammed Shami and pacer Prasidh Krishna will be keenly felt by the team.
