MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be ready to defend their IPL trophy in IPL 2024. The Chennai outfits won the IPL for a record 5 times after beating Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 finals. But it is not smooth sailing for Dhoni and Co. Quite a few players of CSK are injured and fitness concerns continue to bother as just 2 weeks remain for the start of the tournament.
One of the biggest misses for CSK will be Kiwi southpaw Devon Conway. The opener underwent a surgery on his thumb and is ruled out of IPL till May. Apart from Conway, there are multiple fitness and injury concerns for the team with the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Mustafizur Rahman and Shivam Dube.
Chennai Super Kings Injury Concerns –
Devon Conway – CSK’s biggest concern is the absence of Devon Conway. The Yellow Army has been banking on the opening brilliance of the Kiwi start for quite sometime. Conway provides utmost stability at the top of the batting order with Rituraj Gaikwad.
Known to be a dependable batter who can score runs in a flurry, Conway will be out of action for 8 weeks. The opener got injured while playing for the Black Caps against Australia in the T20I series. Following which he underwent a surgery on his thumb and is currently on way to recovery. Thus, Conway’s absence will be a massive blow to MS Dhoni and Co.
Rachin Ravindra – Another Kiwi opener who recently had a massive injury scare. Rachin Ravindra is now on the pecking order to open the innings for CSK after Conway’s injury. However, in the NZ vs AUS 1st T20I he suffered an injury scare. Following which he was rested for the second game owing to a knee injury.
However, the youngster recovered and played matches for the Black Caps. Rachin Ravindra stole the headlines after his heroics in the ODI World Cup. Despite his hard hitting antics, he was brought by CSK for a mere price of 1.8 crores. Coming to his injury concerns, Rachin went on to play more matches for his country. But his fitness and fatigue can still pose an a problem during the opening stage of the tournament.

Shivam Dube – Shivam Dube is a very useful asset for Chennai Super Kings. A swashbuckling hitting and an able pacer, just what a team wants in an all-rounder. However, Dube too has an injury crisis ahead of the IPL 2024. While playing in the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai, he sustained a side strain.
Following which he didn’t play in the quarterfinals against Baroda and the semis against Tamil Nadu. Ahead of IPL 2024, the all-rounder is getting his much needed rest. It remains to be seen if he is fit enough to play in the Ranji Trophy Finals against Vidarbha. In the absence of Ben Stokes, MS Dhoni needs an able batting all-rounder down the order to partner Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur.
