The Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) is up and running in full swing. With 7 days having passed since the opening game, there are quite a few teams that have made the mark. As per reports, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tops the charts among fans for being the Most Popular Team in the opening week.
As per stats given by Ormax Media, the defending Champions, Chennai Super Kings tops the list. The Yellow Army have made a perfect start to their IPL 2024 campaign. They went on to beat formidable rivals RCB in their opening game. In their second game of the campaign, they defeated Gujarat Titans by a massive margin of 63 runs.
Just behind CSK, is the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Faf du Plessis led side made recovery after their opening match loss. Star batter Virat Kohli played a match winning knock to help his side clinch up crucial 2 points in the second game of the tournament against PBKS.
Always in the news, Mumbai Indians occupy the third spot. It has been a torrid start for Hardik Pandya and Co. They were defeated in their opening game against Gujarat Titans. In their second game, Sunrisers Hyderabad took MI for a toss. The hosts blasted MI for a record break score of 277 runs. MI chased well but ultimately fell short by 31 runs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are the fourth most popular team in the first week. The team from the City of Nizams have improved well. Albeit a loss in the opening game to KKR, SRH fought hard and lost in the last over. But they recovered well and went on to shatter records for fun by scoring 277 runs against MI. With a renewed vigour, SRH has been performing well much to the delight of the fans.
Lastly comes Kolkata Knight Riders at the 5th spot. KKR has played only a single game so far and have won their opening game at home. Andre Russell’s carnage followed by an excellent spell from Harshit Rana was enough to etch out a win at the Eden Gardens. The King’s Men will be keen to continue their fine form in the coming games.
