Problems for GT and CSK ahead of IPL 2023 playoffs
Hardik Pandya’s form with bat and ball
Gujarat Titans have done well throughout the tournament especially with Shubman Gill in the form of his life. However the big concern for Titans is the form of their skipper Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder has been unable to make major contributions with both bat and ball. In 13 matches, he has only scored 289 runs at an average of 28.90 and a strike rate of 130.77. Pandya has scored just two half-centuries. Despite such disappointing performance, Titans will hope for their skipper to deliver the goods with a place in the final at stake.
CSK’s dependence on top order
CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway have been in tremendous form in the ongoing campaign. The duo have been responsible in setting up the platform for other batsman to capitalize after giving strong start at the top. However the dependency on openers also comes with the risk. Losing openers means the pressure will be on middle order to deliver the goods. While Shivam Dube has played some knocks the other batsmen need to step up in such high pressure match.
Both teams are facing each other for the first time this season and Hardik Pandya and co will look to beat CSK in their own den and make their way to the finals which will be played at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on May 28.
