IPL 2023: MS Dhoni met with the members of the Indian cricket team before the first T20I of the three-match series against New Zealand. On Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India posted a video to social media showing Dhoni mingling with players including Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav. Dhoni also put in a two-hour practice session in the nets as he gears up for the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League. The first Twenty20 international between India and New Zealand will be played on Friday at Ranchi, which also happens to be MS Dhoni’s hometown. Earlier on Thursday, India’s new captain Pandya tweeted a picture of Dhoni in a viral post. With former Indian captain Dhoni, all-arounder Pandya reenacted a legendary “Sholay” incident. His post quickly went viral on social media.
IPL 2023: MS Dhoni will be seen in action later this year when he rejoins CSK to lead them in the IPL 2023. After failing to go past the group stage in 2022 for the first time in the league’s history, the four-time IPL champion skipper will try to change things around for his team this season.

Dhoni has begun preparing for IPL 2023 and was recently spotted practicing in the nets at the Jharkhand Cricket Association Stadium (JSCA) in Ranchi. On social media, the footage of Dhoni working out in the nets went viral. CSK spent an enormous amount of money—Rs 16.25 crore—to purchase Ben Stokes at the IPL mini auction.
Ben Stokes’ bid from CSK brought him up to Chris Morris’ level and made him the joint third-most expensive player in IPL auction history. Stokes, meanwhile, outbid Deepak Chahar to become CSK’s most expensive IPL auction purchase. Dhoni was “extremely satisfied” with the agreement, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said after the team acquired Ben Stokes.
“Very excited to get (Ben) Stokes and we were lucky also because he came up at the end. We wanted an all-rounder and MS (Dhoni) was very happy that we got Stokes,” Kasi Viswanathan said.
