The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League concluded on Sunday, where Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final to win the trophy in their first-ever campaign. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that the board will be paying INR 1.25 crores as prize money to the groundsmen for their diligent work. He wrote on Twitter “I’m pleased to announce a prize money of INR 1.25 crores for the men who gave us the best games in #TATAIPL 2022. The unsung heroes – our curators and groundsmen across 6 IPL venues this season.”

“We’ve witnessed some high octane games and I would like thank each one of them for their hardwork. 25 lacs each for CCI, Wankhede, DY Patil and MCA, Pune 12.5 lacs each for Eden and Narendra Modi Stadium,” the BCCI secretary further added.
Notably, 70 of IPL 2022’s 74 matches were played in Mumbai – across the Brabourne Stadium, Wankhede Stadium, MCA and the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy. Groundsmen from those stadiums will be getting 25 lakhs, while BCCI has allocated 12.5 lakhs each for the groundsmen from the two playoff venues – Kolkata’s Eden Gardens and Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
