Back in 2013, Gautam Gambhir was the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, whereas Virat Kohli was leading Royal Challengers Bangalore. They both had a go at each other when those two sides clashed, and had to be separated by KKR all-rounder Rajat Bhatia.

Speaking on that incident in Jatin Sapru’s show ‘Over and Out’, the two-time IPL winning captain said:
“That’s OK, I am absolutely fine with it and I expect him to be like that. I am like that. I like that contest, I like people who are competitive. MS Dhoni is a competitor in his own way, Virat is a competitor in his own way. Sometimes when you are leading the side, you have to do it even if you don’t want to do it because you want your team to play the way you want.”

He further went on to explain that there has never been anything personal between the two Delhi lads. “That’s why there was nothing personal (in 2013) and there never will be personal against Virat Kohli. As a leader, sometimes you are not thinking about personal relationships with the other guy, just because you are leading a team, you have to do it,” he added.
