Kevin Pietersen made a special mention for Poland for keeping their doors open as 400,000 Ukrainians have started to move to neighbouring countries.
“I can just tell you that Poland has been incredible to fleeing Ukrainians. From the border to the city of Warsaw. I’ve had immediate family that have just escaped & they say that the love they’ve received in Poland is beyond anything they’ve ever experienced. #ThankYouPoland,” Pietersen wrote on the micro-blogging website.
Pietersen has been associated with the IPL for a long time and before his retirement, he has played for a number of IPL teams like Deccan Charges, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and others.
Meanwhile, a number of sports bodies have boycotted Russia’s action against Ukraine. Organisations like FIFA, IOC, UEFA, BWF, Formula 1, among other sports bodies have issued sanctions in the middle-East country by banning matches in Russia.
Russia-Ukraine War- Notably, tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalated when on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of Ukraine’s breakaway region following which Western Nations have toughened sanctions against the country.
Earlier, negotiations between delegations of Russia and Ukraine in the Gomel Region of Belarus ended and the second round of talks will be held on the Belarusian-Polish border in a few days.
