Hardik Pandya was impressive as ever as the Gujarat Titans captain used his resources to full effect to restrict the Rajasthan Royals to a paltry 130 in their first innings. Pandya was particularly impressive with his bowling changes and field setting, while chipping in with a match winning spell with the ball.
Such was Hardik’s performance, Simon Doull on commentary backed him to take over international captaincy in the future for India. India are in the hunt to ready a successor to Rohit Sharma in the years to come and Doull believes Hardik just adds to India’s options.
He said, “India has got a really good option in Hardik Pandya to captain down the line. He has been impressive and done everything he could. He was brilliant with bowling changes and field setting.”

The Indian team management have already taken stock of Hardik’s performances this season as a player and captain, and could hand him the armband for the series against Ireland.
A member of the selection committee previously told Insidesport, “Hardik has been impressive. What is more satisfying is that he has become a very responsible player as a captain. He is certainly in the scheme of things for the captaincy role for the Ireland tour. ”
