IPL 2022: Fans call out Rajasthan Royals for 'Shameful PRANK’

IPL 2022: In a strange turn of events, just a day after making an official statement regarding the change in their social media management over the Sanju Samson tweet uproar, Rajasthan Royals (RR) posted a cryptic video on Saturday morning, saying it was all part of a prank.

A video of several members of the RR franchise, including Jos Buttler, R Ashwin, Lasith Malinga and Kumar Sangakkara among others criticising the social media team of the franchise was then put up, where the players were seen playing their part in what was nothing but an elaborate plan.

The tweet which created mayhem and was later deleted showed Samson sitting on the team bus with a towel wrapped around his head. The caption read: ‘Kya khoob lagti ho’, with a smiley face emoticon.

The Royals had publicly announced that they have sacked their social media team after receiving a complaint from Samson for the tweet which was in bad taste.

But on Friday morning, the entire episode turned out to be a publicity stunt as the franchise revealed that the firing of the social media team on Friday evening was nothing but a prank.

The fans, many of whom were disappointed with the sacking of the social media team, lambasted Samson on Friday for not being able to take a joke. And as soon as the Royals on Saturday revealed that the entire episode was just a prank, the fans quickly realised that it was just a publicity stunt and nothing more.

What is the incident all about? Notably, RR management announced that they will replace their social media team after skipper Sanju Samson complained because of an edited picture of him on Twitter.

However, now it has been revealed that it was all a prank, which has left fans bewildered. Many RR loyalists took to Twitter to express their anger, with some slamming even Samson for agreeing to be a part of the prank.
