Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals looked lost for inspiration as Rajasthan Royals unleashed carnage at the Wankhede Stadium. After a sedate start, Jos Buttler and Devdutt Paddikal plundered the runs putting on IPL 2022’s first-century partnership for the opening wicket.
Rajasthan Royals scored a staggering 155 tuns in 15 overs with their openers smashing the bowlers to all parts of the ground. Buttler went on to smash his third century of IPL 2022, while Padikkal also helped himself to a fine half-century at the Wankhede.
He will, therefore, not be present at the ground for tonight’s game against Rajasthan Royals. The franchise requests for Ponting and his family’s privacy to be respected in the current scenario.

The absence of Ricky Ponting was crucial as Rishabh Pant found no support as his side crumbled under the mountain of runs posted by the Royals pair. Shardul Thakur, who bowled a maiden in the powerplay was not given another over with the new ball and did not complete his quota of overs, in a rather odd move from the Delhi Capitals skipper, in a game where Lalit Yadav bowled his four overs.
Ricky Ponting was not in the dugout for their match against Rajasthan Royals and is currently in isolation after one of his family members tested positive for Covid.
A family member of Delhi Capitals Head Coach Ricky Ponting has tested positive for COVID. The family has now been moved into an isolation facility and is being well taken care of,” Delhi Capitals Statement said in a statement.
However, Ricky Ponting has tested negative twice but since he is a close contact, he has been moved into isolation. He will remain in isolation for five days and is expected to be available for the Kolkata Knight Riders match on April 28. His family has been shifted to a different facility outside the team hotel.
