Kuldeep Yadav set the stage on fire in his debut game for Delhi Capitals, as he picked up three wickets against Mumbai Indians by conceding only 18 runs. This was Yadav’s best performance in a long time, as his former team, KKR constantly benched him and gave him only six opportunities in the last couple of seasons.

Yadav’s coach Kapil Pandey has lambasted KKR for their treatment, as his student silenced critics in only his first match of IPL 2022. “Kuldeep was doing well, but he was being neglected. The day KKR released him, we were very happy and so was Kuldeep. We thought Kuldeep was being treated like a servant in the Kolkata Knight Riders camp. If he is not getting chances, it is better to be released,” Pandey said while speaking to ABP.
“The boy who should have got INR 9-10 crore, has got only INR 2 crore. He has also suffered financially because of KKR. I told him that there was no harm in getting a lower price in the auction, just keep playing. We work so hard to play cricket, not only to earn money. The main goal is to play for the country,” he further added.

Even when Kuldeep was given a chance by KKR, he often did not bowl his full quota as he has bowled only 16 overs in the last two seasons. Pandey further revealed that being on the bench constantly took a toll on the 27-year-old’s confidence as well.
“Kuldeep told me ‘I don’t know what the problem is, sir, I am not getting enough opportunities. I don’t know why they are not giving me the ball, what their plans are.’ Actually, the captain and the team management lost faith in him. Depression was grasping him,” Pandey added.
