This mega auction provides all the 10 teams to potentially build their teams from the scratch, with the exception of the retained players. 3 Superstars from the previous season were retained by the Bangalore outfits. They are Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj. RCB has spent 33 Cr in retaining their stars and thus will be left with a purse of 57 Cr in which they will have to carry out the entire auction.

While the team retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj, they will have some big shoes to fill. With AB de Villiers calling time on his career, RCB will have to find a batsman who is as consistent as the former South African captain.

However, the main headache for Sanjay Bangar and his team during this auction would be to find a captain. Since Virat Kohli’s decision to step down from the role of the skipper in late 2021, Bangar will have to find a suitable player who can easily take up the role of the skipper and lead the team from the front. But they do not have many options.

RCB are likely to bid for David Warner, Shreyas Iyer and Aaron Finch who take build on from what Virat Kohli did and land the elusive IPL title.

The title has always escaped the grasp of RCB from the very fast season, and thus to avoid a similar fate, Bangar would try to assemble a team that would be established on all fronts.
