Iyer has proven himself time and again with the bat, and has also experience of leading Delhi Capitals. With three teams in Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings desperate for a skipper, it seems certain that Iyer will fetch a lucrative contract, which according to reports, can be north of INR 20 crores.
Aakash Chopra recently revealed on his YouTube channel that RCB has a budget of INR 20 crores for the player. “High bids will be placed on Shreyas Iyer. It could be 15-16 crores as well, someone told me that RCB has kept 20 crores for Shreyas Iyer,” the former cricketer claimed. While speaking with InsideSport, IPL auctioneer Hugh Edmeades also stated, “I would be surprised if the Rs 20 crore barrier is not broken this year.”
