“It is a very strange sort of thing for me to see someone like Umesh Yadav, who has been playing cricket for so many years and been a consistent member of the Indian cricket team. Sadly, someone did not pick their name at the auction,” Harbhajan Singh said.

The cricketer-turned-expert reflected on day one of the mega auction and felt, “it was a sad sight of the IPL”. Suresh Raina has been an integral part of CSK for 12 years. Barring the two seasons, he played for Gujarat Lions, the southpaw has won several matches for his CSK. He has scored 5528 runs in 205 IPL games. The seasoned campaigner though had a dismal IPL season in 2021 and that could be one of the reasons he was not retained.
IPL 2022 Auction LIVE: Speaking to India today, Harbhajan felt Raina won’t be sold on day two of the mega auction also. He further opined that Umesh Yadav might find takers. The Indian pacer also went unsold on the day of the auctions.

“For me, it was a sad sort of moment of the auction. But I feel he will have a chance tomorrow. Some team will go for him. But not too sure for Raina as he hardly plays any cricket,” Suresh Raina said.
IPL 2022 Auction LIVE: The former India off-spinner further stated that even if CSK pick Raina in the accelerated auction, it won’t make a difference as he did not find takers the first time.
“Of course, he has been a very consistent member of the Chennai Super Kings and known as Mr. IPL. It is so sad when you see Umesh and Raina not getting a bid. Maybe CSK might buy him tomorrow but it will not be the same thing as you want to get picked in the first round itself. It was a sad sight of the IPL. This is how you reflect on time,” he added.
