“Injuries are big challenge”: Chopra fires warning to LSG over Marsh, Mayank & more

LSG are boggled by multiple injury concerns just ahead of IPL 2025 and Chopra feels it could haunt them through the season

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has fired a warning to Lucknow Super Giants over the challenges posed by injuries to their players. Pacers Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan are yet to get clearance from the NCA, with lesser than a week left for the start of IPL 2025. Rishabh Pant and co. will commence their campaign by taking on Delhi Capitals on March 24.

LSG’s injury woes a big challenge

In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra noted that the absence of Mayank, Avesh and Mohsin could force LSG to change the team combination entirely. He opined that the injuries were already coming to the fore as one of LSG’s toughest challenges already.

The injury concerns are not with him only. Avesh, Mayank and Mohsin are injured. If so many people are injured, and in case you have to play Akash Deep, Akash and Shamar, the combination will totally change then. The injuries are already coming to the fore as a big challenge,” Chopra explained.

Further, Chopra pointed out that Mitchell Marsh is available but only as a pure-batter. He said that the Australian had the ability to be a match-winner for LSG, especially in Lucknow, but can’t do so now since he will not be bowling. For the unversed, Marsh has been cleared only to bat as he has only recently recovered from a back injury.

Marsh is not available as a bowler. You want to play him because he does two jobs. Considering the sort of pitch in Lucknow, red soil with a little grass, his bowling would also have worked decently. Then he becomes like a match-winner, but he won’t bowl now,” he added.

He further stated that while it would be good if the entire pace attack is Indian, one could only see how effective it would be once the tournament starts. He dubbed LSG’s pace attack as slightly inexperienced.
