Even though India might have failed to reach even the semis of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, but its presence will be felt in the final, when Australia take on England on Sunday. That is because ICC has named the match officials for the summit clash, and Indian umpire Vrinda Rathi will officiate in the match alongside Jacquline Williams.
Indian officials in Women’s T20 World Cup final
The Women’s T20 World Cup final will be played at the Lord’s and both the unbeaten sides of the tournament, will be taking part in it. Meanwhile, this would be the first opportunity for Rathi, to officiate in such a big clash; on the other hand, Williams will be officiating in her second Women’s T20 WC final.
The Indian had previously officiated in the Australia vs West Indies semi-final, as well as England vs Ireland matches. New Zealand’s Kim Cotton would be the third umpire, while Sri Lanka’s Nimali Perera will be the fourth umpire. Again, India’s GS Laxmi will be the match referee.
As far the the journey to the final for both teams is concerned, Australia went on to beat South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Pakistan and India — West Indies in the semis. England beat Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, New Zealand, and South Africa in semis, to reach the final.
Australia has pocketed six world Titles already, and would be looking for their 7th on Sunday. England aren’t far behind, and have won 5 World Cups, across formats, and would be gunning for their 6th. In fact, the host side hasn’t won a T20 World Cup since the first edition of the tournament, way back in 2009, and have lost three finals after that — in 2012, 2014, and 2018.
