It’s the highest ever live tune-in of viewers for the online streaming of any sporting event in the country breaking all previous records.

Earlier, the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021, which started on September 19 in the UAE, saw a sudden drop in ratings and viewership’s as compared with the average ratings of the first leg. However, the online streaming platform did manage to get back on track as the second leg progressed.
2019 World Cup Match between India vs Pakistan also had set new records
The International Cricket Council (ICC) had revealed the viewership details of the 2019 World Cup.
- The tournament was the most-watched ICC event ever, with a global cumulative average audience of 1.6 billion for live coverage, a 38% increase over the 2015 edition and a unique broadcast audience of 706 million viewers, demonstrating the phenomenal reach and power of live cricket around the world.
- Contributing heavily in that spike was India and its millions of cricket lovers. As expected, India vs Pakistan clash became the biggest match of the tournament. And it converted into numbers, which fetched 273 million unique TV viewers and another 50 million digital-only viewers.
- India vs New Zealand semi-final match recorded a world record for the highest ever concurrent viewership of a live stream with 25.3 million viewers – but mind it most of those users were watching the LIVE Stream for free as Hotstar in those use to allow 5 MINS LIVE Streaming Free for the users.
- The 1.28 crore concurrent viewers on India vs Pakistan were paid viewers as per industry sources.
