Both the teams started the game aggressively. Within the few seconds after the start of the game, India had an early opportunity to find the net but the striker hit it wide of the post. The girls in blue continued to dominate the proceedings and earned back-to-back penalty corners but couldn’t score from the opportunities.
With three minutes remaining in the first quarter, Dutch striker Beetsma dragged into the net to draw first blood. Within a minute, they soon scored another one in the net but it was deemed invalid as it was scored from the back of the stick.

In the second quarter too, India continued to put pressure on the Dutch defence, they made good penetrations into their opponents half, but the final touch was missing from the Indians. Meanwhile, Dutch had two penalty corner opportunites but blew one away while another one was defended well by India. With no goals in the second quarter, the players went into the first half break with the score 1-0 in favour of Netherlands.
In the third half, India ran out of steam and gave several opportunities for the Dutch, the strikers however floundered and missed the last pass several times to fail in scoring the goals. With no goals in two quarters, Netherlands gave a good comeback and Luna Fokke finally scored one past the Indian goalkeeper to take the lead 2-0.
Within minutes, they pounced on another opportunity and Jip Dicke converted a brilliant pass to her from the left into the net to seal the final nail on the coffin in the match. They will now face the winner between England and Germany in the summit clash on Tuesday, 12th April. Meanwhile India will play the losers of that contest in a bronze medal contest.

- With three minutes remaining in first half, Netherlands take early lead by finding the net with a terrific pass.
- India get another penalty corner opportunity and this time too the girls in blue fail to find the net.
