Virat Kohli, pacer Jasprit Burmah and other members of the Indian team already had reached London on Thursday.

It was being speculated by a section of media that Rohit did not fly due to a injury. But as reported by InsideSport, Rohit stayed back due to some personal committment and has reached London a day late.

Among other India players who were on that plane to London were off-spinner R Ashwin, allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna, batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari and wicketkeeper KS Bharat:

India head coach Rahul Dravid will join the Indian team in England after the conclusion of the T20I series against South Africa on Sunday.

India will play England in one Test from July 1-5 at Edgbaston, and then three ODIs and as many T20Is.

India Tour of England: No charter flight for Rohit Sharma & Co, Team India to assemble in Mumbai by June 15, to leave for London on June 16

Team India all set for the England tour – Unlike last time though, with no bio-bubble in place, there will be no charter flights this time. All the players were tested for Covid-19 before boarding the flight for England.

Once they reach London, they will travel to Leicester. There, India will have a short camp ahead of the warm-up match from June 24.

Coaching set up for the tour –

In a bid to prepare themselves for the tour of Ireland, National Cricket Academy coaches Sitanshu Kotak, Sairaj Bahutule and Munish Bali will take charge of the proceedings in the ongoing India vs South Africa series from the 4th T20. The trio will then accompany NCA chief VVS Laxman, as part of the support staff of the Ireland series.

  • Rahul Dravid will be in charge for the entirety of the series against South Africa.
  • NCA coaches Sairaj Bahutule, Munish Bali and Sitanshu Kotak will take over responsibilities for the final two matches in Rajkot and Bengaluru.
  • The rest of David’s coaching staff – Vikram Rathour, Paras Mhambrey, T Dilip will travel with Rohit Sharma and Co. to England.
  • Rahul Dravid, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer will depart on June 19 after the SA series.
  • A separate squad for the Ireland series to be named.
  • VVS Laxman, the squad for Ireland tour and the coaches will depart on June 22.

India’s travel plan for England tour-

  • BCCI has asked Rohit Sharma and the players selected for the Test squad to assemble in Mumbai by June 15.
  • All players barring Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will leave for England on June 16.
  • All players will have two sets of RT-PCR Covid tests before boarding the flight for England.
  • If anyone tests positive, they will have to wait and serve a mandatory isolation period before leaving for England.
  • The second batch including head coach Rahul Dravid will leave for London from Bengaluru on June 19.
  • Like last time, players can take their families with them on England tour.
  • However, there will be no charter flights this time.
