He looked at his usual best, making the ball talk in Zimbabwe. Deepak managed to scalp five wickets against the African nation. In his only outing in the Asia Cup, his figures read 0/28. Gavaskar is very clear in his reasoning for Deepak’s inclusion. He believes that he can make use of the conditions in Australia, which will favour the faster bowlers.
“I would say Deepak Chahar. He is the one I would certainly look at because it will be Australia and there will be extra bounce. And with the kind of movement that he generates with the new ball. He is somebody who’s got to factor in,” Hindustan Times quoted India Today as saying.

”You know we’ve always picked about 4-5 bowlers for the Australia or South Africa tour and one if them gets wasted. But in a fast-paced tournament like the T20 I think to go with Deepak Chahar would be beneficial for the Indian team.”
Bumrah and Harshal fit: Had Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel not been fit for the T20 World Cup, Deepak’s inclusion had a greater chance. But the key duo has passed their fitness test, and looks set for the T20 World Cup in Australia. Alongside the duo, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh looks set for Australia.
But if they are looking at a fifth pacer, Chahar could be a good fit. He might face stiff competition from Mohammed Shami, who is also considered as a good option due to his experience.
