India cricket team squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England has been announced. Ending days of speculation, chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced Shubman Gill as the new captain. The tour to the UK will mark Gill’s first assignment as skipper following Rohit Sharma’s abrupt decision to retire from Tests.

Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal. KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav
Rishabh Pant has been named the vice-captain and first-choice wicketkeeper. Dhruv Jurel will serve as the back-up keeper. Abhimanyu Easawaran, the India A captain, has also been included in the main squad. Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan has been rewarded for his consistent performances with a maiden call-up to the Test side.
Mohammed Shami has been left out of the squad. Other pacers include Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep. Arshdeep has also earned his maiden call-up to the Test team.
