India fail Final Test, bow down to Bangladesh in U19 Asia Cup finals

India lose U19 Asia Cup Final to Bangladesh by 59 runs

The young guns failed the final test. After a bright show in the U19 Asia Cup, the India Cricket Team failed to give the finishing touches. Playing the finals against Bangladesh, Mohamed Amaan and the young Blues were completely outplayed by their neighboring rivals. Bangladesh went on to win the final by 59 runs.

India stormed to the finals by beating Sri Lanka whereas Bangladesh reached the finals by dumping Pakistan. India is already the most successful team having lifted the U19 Asia Cup a record of 8 times. But this time the team failed to make it 9 times as they were blown apart by the Bengal Tigers.

India outplayed by Bangladesh

India’s bane came in the form of over-reliance on openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre. Over the past couple of matches, it has been the ace duo who has been scoring the most runs for the side. But in the finals when the star batters failed, the rest of the team was in complete shambles.

Ayush Mhatre departed after scoring 1 run while 13-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi could only manage to score 9 runs. A complete batting order failure saw the Indian side lose out in the finals to Bangladesh. Batting first Bangladesh managed to score 198 runs, leaving a modest target for India to chase.

But with the ace openers failing on the final day, the rest of the team fell like nine pins. KP Karthikeya scored 21 while the captain Mohamed Amaan tried his best, but he too failed after scoring 26 runs. In the end, India was bundled out for a mere score of 139 runs.
