India Cricket Team marches on! Men in Blue register 9-match unbeaten run in World Cup

India Cricket Team dominate every sector to go unbeaten in 9 games in ICC World Cup group stage clash

The ICC World Cup 2023 group stage is over and if one team has dominated it across all departments, it is the Indian Cricket Team. Rohit Sharma’s Men in Blue topped the Points Table with 9 out of 9 wins to establish their brute dominance. With 9 wins in the group stage, they have gone on to surpass the previous record set in 2003 by Sourav Ganguly and his squad.

Be it Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa, India has dominated every opponent to establish their point as India heads into the semi-finals as favorites to lift the trophy. Back in the 2003 World Cup, the India team under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly played well but lost to Australia in the group stage and then ultimately to Australia in the finals.

In 2003, India set the record of 8 unbeaten runs, but now in 2023, 20 years later Rohit Sharma’s side has gone on to surpass the previous record. This year be it batting, bowling, or fielding, Indians have dominated every department of the game.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been excellent with the bat. While Rohit Sharma is the 4th highest run-getter with 503 runs, it is Virat Kohli who tops the charts with 594 runs from 9 games with 2 tons and 5 fifties.

In bowling, Mohammed Shami is the 6th highest after having scalped 16 wickets from 4 games. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah too has been deft with the ball after having scalped 15 wickets from 8 games while Ravindra Jadeja has 14 wickets from 8 games.

Up next, India will look to exact revenge against New Zealand. The Men in Blue bitterly remember the 2019 semi-finals where the Kiwis knocked India out in the semis and thus with vengeance in blood, India will look to go all guns blazing against the Kiwis on 15th November.
