India won the toss and choose to field. The decision proved to be right as Renuka Singh started on a high with a wicket in the very first over. Renuka then continued her dominance as Sri Lanka lost half of the side before 100.
Sri Lanka never got going into the match as Ama Kanchana top scored with an unbeaten 47. But it was the Indian bowlers that dominated the day, Renuka ended with four wickets while there were two wickets each for Meghna Singh and Deepti Sharma. Sri Lanka ended their innings on 173 thereby giving India a small target to chase.
Indian openers Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana played a fantastic inning to gift India the series victory after winning two out of the 3 ODI matches. The duo of Verma-Mandhana went on the attack simultaneously as they looked in a hurry to finish the game. India reached their target successfully within 26 overs.
Smriti Mandhana failed to score a fantastic century as she had to be left contented at 94 unbeaten. Her partner Shefali Verma too crossed her fifty in fine fashion as she went on to remain unbeaten on 71. Having taken an unassailable lead in the series, India would be eager to inflict a whitewash on their opponent.
