KL Rahul’s return to the India team was greeted well by the fans and his supporters, However, the most important thing was the Indian player returning to form. The star batter has been away from the Indian national team since the conclusion of the IPL. Rahul was injured and underwent a sports hernia surgery and apparently missed South Africa, Ireland, England, and West Indies series.
Right ahead of the Zimbabwe tour he got infected by covid which further hampered his delay into the squad. Rahul in the meantime was selected to be a part of the Men in Blue for the Asia Cup. Ahead of the tournament, a rusty Rahul needed match practice and was slotted into the Indian squad at the last moment.

In the 1st ODI against Zimbabwe, KL Rahul who didn’t open with Shikhar Dhawan failed to get a chance to bat. India convincingly batted well and went on to win the game by 10 wickets. That however wasn’t the case in the 2nd ODI. Desperate to get batting time, KL Rahul went on to open proceedings with vice-captain Shikhar Dhawan.
Rahul’s stay in the crease was short-lived. He played 5 deliveries where he managed to score just a solitary run before being dismissed of an lbw. With time running out, Rahul only has the remaining ODI to get his much-needed batting time and shake off his rustiness ahead of the mega tournament.
