Chasing a modest target of 162, KL Rahul decided to promote himself. Considering he will have to open in a week’s time against Pakistan, it was the only logical choice. However, a rusty Rahul did not last long. He could only face five balls before he was trapped LBW. However, Shikhar Dhawan looked in good touch.

Unlike the first match, he was on the attack against Zimbabwe bowlers from the get go. He added 42 runs with Shubman Gill before falling for 33 off 21 balls. Shubman Gill once again looked in good touch but could not continue his run. he gave his wicket away for 33 off 34. Ishan Kishan did not have a good outing after being dismissed for 6.

But Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson made full use of the opportunity. Hooda started well but was cleaned up by Sikandar Raza with a yorker on 25. But Samson made a bold statement with an unbeaten 43-run knock off just 39 balls. His innings included 3 fours and 4 sixes as India chased down the target in 25.4 overs.

Earlier, for the second match in a row, Zimbabwe were bowled out under 200 runs. While there was no Deepak Chahar in the line-up, it did not matter. Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Deepak Hooda all bagged a wicket each. Shardul Thakur was the most successful bowler with three wickets even though he was on the expensive side.
Shardul Thakur picked up 3 wickets while the rest of the bowlers picked a wicket each to bowl Zimbabwe out for 161. Sean Williamson waged a lone battle, scoring 42 off 42 while Ryan Burl remained unbeaten on 42. India will be aiming to wrap their sixth consecutive ODI series against Zimbabwe.
For the second match in a row, KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first again. But the biggest news is Deepak Chahar who misses out. Shardul Thakur comes in. It is still not known whether it is to take it easy, especially after he bowled a match-winning spell.
