IND vs WI: 1000 Runs club against WestIndies: India opener Shikhar Dhawan will be keen to join Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in a special club of Indian players as he leads the Men in Blue against the WestIndies, starting Friday with the India vs West Indies ODI series. Dhawan needs 156 more runs to complete 1000 runs against WestIndies and become the third Indian player to do so in the 50-over format. Shikhar Dhawan set to join 1000-Run Club

Shikhar, who was appointed as the stand-in captain for the WestIndies tour, has enjoyed playing against the Caribbean side. He is currently the third highest-scorer against the WestIndies with 844 runs to his name in 27 innings. More importantly he has scored two tons and five fifties to his name when it comes to facing the WestIndies.

Shikhar along with Rohit Sharma has produced a number of memorable innings against the WestIndies. In 2013 Shikhar scored 119 to help India to a win, as it remains to be his best score against the WestIndies.

Virat and Rohit lead the charts

As things stand, Virat and Rohit lead the way with most runs against the WestIndies in ODIs. Virat has scored 2261 runs in 41 innings against the WestIndies with Rohit sitting at second with 1601 runs in 34 innings. If Shikhar does manage to reach the 1000 runs mark, he will join Virat and Rohit.

Matter of fact Virat has scored most against the WestIndies than any other side in the world. While neither of Rohit or Virat are in action in the ODI series, it will be a perfect opportunity for Shikhar to seize the opportunity.

India ready to roar against WestIndies

India are all set to take the center stage against the hosts WestIndies on Friday, with Shikhar Dhawan incharge of the Indian side. Seniors including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli along with Hardik Pandya are rested from the Indian side.

With the ODI World Cup not too far, Shikhar will try to add another feather to his impressive cap. Shikhar will lead India at Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain as he tries to stamp his authority on the ODI team.
