Romario Shepherd made his ODI debut back in 2019, but an outstanding Caribbean Premier League 2021 campaign has helped him nail his place in the preferred playing XI of West Indies. The all-rounder from Guyana has picked up 8 wickets in this format at an economy rate of 5 runs per over, while he also has contributed 80 runs with the bat at a strike rate of 90.90. He has an ODI three-wicket haul and a half-century to his name, both of which came against Ireland.

  1. Akeal Hosein

With Sunil Narine not playing for the national team, the spin department was West Indies’ Achilles’ heel for a while before they found the perfect solution in Akeal Hosein. The 28-year-old left-arm orthodox spinner has picked up 20 wickets in 12 ODI matches at an economy rate of 4.28 runs per over and an average of 23.40. In a very short span of time, Hosein has picked up four ODI three-wicket hauls against four different teams – Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Australia and Ireland.

Shamarh Brooks is a late bloomer in international cricket. He made his ODI debut earlier this year against Ireland, at the age of 33. In only three ODI outings, Brooks has scored 137 runs at an average of 45.66 and a strike rate of 86.16. In only his first ODI game at Kingston, the lad from Barbados scored 93 runs, while he accumulated 44 runs in his next two matches.

  1. Odean Smith

Like Brooks, Odean Smith was also handed his ODI debut in the bilateral series against Ireland after doing well in the domestic circuit. The 25-year-old medium-pacer has picked up 3 wickets in as many ODI matches, whilst maintaining an average of 19 and an economy rate of 5.60 runs per over. Playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors, he was the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the last edition of the Caribbean Premier League.

Brandon King is coming into this tour on the back of a fairly decent T20I series against England, where he scored a half-century in the first match. The 27-year-old opening batter has scored 97 runs in four matches at an average of 24.25 and a strike rate of 67.36. Besides that, the Jamaican has also played 19 T20I matches, in which he has scored 386 runs at an average of 22.70 and a strike rate of 129.53.
