IND vs WI Live: Virat Kohli brings up 5000 ODI runs at home but century drought continues

Virat Kohli’s stay at the crease lasted just four balls but he still managed to make it to the record books on Sunday in Ahmedabad. The former Indian captain scored two crisp boundaries to become just the fourth player in ODI history to score 5000 runs at home. Kohli is just the second Indian to do so after Sachin Tendulkar, while Ricky Ponting and Jacques Kallis are the others on the list. Virat has the highest average among the quartet, and the only one to average about 50.

  • 5521 – Ricky Ponting in Australia (Avg 39.71)
  • 5186 – Jacques Kallis in South Africa (Avg 45.89)
  • 5002 – Virat Kohli in India (Avg 60.25)

While Kohli did get himself into the record books, his century drought continued for yet another game. The former Indian captain last scored a century back in 2019 and has struggled to go past the three-figure ever since. Nonetheless, Kohli did score two half-centuries in a humiliating series defeat in South Africa, and now having given up captaincy, the 33-year-old will hope to end his drought soon.
