Avesh Khan was rewarded for his consistency as Shikhar Dhawan handed him his ODI debut in the IND vs WI 2nd ODI on Sunday. Khan replaced fellow pacer Prasidh Krishna in the XI as India aim to seal the series in Port of Spain. The 25-year-old was given his cap by captain Shikhar Dhawan, having pipped Arshdeep Singh into the side.
Avesh made his debut earlier this year after two impressive seasons in the IPL with the Delhi Capitals and the Lucknow Super Giants. The Indore-born right-arm pacer impressed in his short stint in the T20s, earning a call-up to the series against West Indies for both ODIs and T20s. Having sat out of the first game Avesh was brought into the side for Prasidh Krishna.

While it was a hurrah for Avesh, it was another heartbreak for Arshdeep Singh as his wait for an ODI debut goes longer. The left-arm quick had to wait on the sidelines for seven games before making his T20I debut and is once again warming the bench in Port of Spain.
Arshdeep has been impressive in the IPL showing maturity and skill to keep the batsmen in check in the death. In his only T20I game, the left-arm pacer returned with figures of 2/18 in 3.3 overs, but opportunities have been far and few for the Punjab Kings star.
