However, now Gaikwad will get his chance for the Men in Blue in the India Tour of West Indies as youngster Shubman Gill is likely to be rested from the shortest format of the game.

The CSK opener had a good season in IPL 2023 where ultimately his side won the trophy. But following the conclusion of the IPL, Ruturaj opted his name from the WTC Finals squad as he got married.
Gaikwad was a standby option and with him not being available, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal got the chance to travel with the squad.
