Kevin Sinclair replaces Raymon Reifer as West Indies bolster spin resources

West Indies have beefed up their spin options for the IND vs WI 2nd Test.

With the series on the line, the West Indies made a significant change to their squad. Raymon Reifer, who played the 1st Test in the India vs West Indies series has been dropped. Kevin Sinclair is set to debut in the IND vs WI 2nd Test. The addition of the off-spinner is to further boost their spin department which has Rakheem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican.

West Indies were bowled over in the 1st Test comprehensively. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 12 wickets in the match as the hosts lost by an innings. With spin again set to be the mantra for the IND vs WI 2nd Test, Sinclair is all set to make his debut. It is his first call-up for the national side in this format.

Sinclair has so far appeared for West Indies in seven ODIs and six T20Is, taking 11 and four wickets in each match. He featured for the Men in Maroon in their dismal World Cup 2023 Qualifying campaign in Zimbabwe.

Without Reifer, who batted at No. 3, the other batters might all move up one spot. Sinclair will potentially bat below Holder at No. 7. However, all could change if Kirk McKenzie is set to make his Test debut.

West Indies squad for the second Test: Kraigg Brathwaite (capt), Jermaine Blackwood (vice-capt), Alick Athanaze, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Rahkeem Cornwall, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kirk McKenzie, Kevin Sinclair, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican
