Chasing a target of 184, Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma opened the batting for India. India faced a huge blow when Rohit got out in the first over. In the third over, the incident happened when Ishan Kishan was hit on the helmet by a short delivery from Lahiru Kumara . Ishan went for the pull but missed it and received the blow on his helmet.
The batsman had scored 14 runs at that point of time. He looked a bit shaken after the blow and he had to get medical assistance on the field. He however continued to play but his innings didn’t last long as he managed to add only two more runs. He was dismissed for 16 as he gave away a simple catch to Sri Lankan skipper Dasun Shanaka at mid on off the bowling of Lahiru Kumara.
India has already missed the services of Deepak Chahar, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar due to injuries just before this series. It remains to be seen if Ishan Kishan’s injury is a serious one. If Ishan Kishan misses out from the next game, India can rope in Mayank Agarwal as his replacement as the Karnataka batsman has been called up to the squad.
