IND vs SA: Temba Bavuma taken for scans, to not take further part in Day 1’s play

Temba Bavuma suffered the injury in the 20th over of the first day of IND vs SA 1st Test in Centurion on Tuesday.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has suffered a left hamstring strain while fielding during the first day of IND vs SA 1st Test, the scans confirmed. The Proteas opener will not take further part in opening day’s play.

Bavuma suffered the injury in the 20th over when he was chasing the ball from mid-off. The Proteas’ skipper managed to stop the ball but damaged his hamstring while running. He was then escorted out of the field with the help of team’s physio.

Former South Africa Test skipper Dean Elgar took over as captain after Bavuma’s injury. It is important to note that the Bavuma will not be allowed a runner due to ICC’s revised law.

Talking about the game, South Africa are in complete control against India on Day 1. Kagiso Rabada wrecked havoc as his 4-wicket haul has reduced the visitors to 121/6.
